Executive Committee of the Florida Bible College Alumni Association has announced the details of its 2010 Bible Conference

The Executive Committee of the Florida Bible College Alumni Association has announced the details of its 2010 Bible Conference. The Inaugural Florida Bible College Alumni Association Bible Conference will be held over the Labor Day weekend next fall (September 3-6, 2010) at the Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

This first conference will focus on the four distinctives that made FBC unique among Bible colleges, explains Joe Alessi, FBCAA President. These distinctives are Grace, The Clarity of the Gospel, Evangelism, and Faithfulness." Vice President Mels Carbonell added, "Although this event is sponsored by the FBCAA, its appeal will by no means be limited to alumni. Anyone who values these distinctives will be blessed by this conference. Our alumni are encouraged to invite others to join them at the Bible conference."

The plenary sessions will feature FBC alumni Rev. Mike Minter, Dr. Mels Carbonell, Dr. Stan Ponz, and Dr. Jim Scudder. Several dozen workshops will be presented to supplement the plenary sessions.

Thank You to My Family… (“Doc” Parrish)

It has been six months since my sweet Min was translated from the stunning beauty of Alaska to the indescribable presence of her Father in Heaven. Though I miss her terribly every hour of every day, the Lord has allowed me the grace to not question “Why”, but “How?” How should I now live…without Min and for You?

I have gained a new appreciation for the Word (my map) and the Spirit (my compass) and for the unbelievable gift of the relationship with my Abba father. My faith has become so real (and I thought it was before) that I truly feel that I am being carried along. One of my favorite Christian authors, Ken Gire, relates the story of a little girl who wandered away from home and became lost. Eventually, a policeman saw her plight and stopped to help. As he drove her around the neighborhood the little girl looked left and right, block after block, and finally asked him to stop. “This is my church, she said. “You can let me out here. I can always find my way home from here.” I feel like that little girl. Through the hundreds of cards, letters, emails, phone calls, visits, gifts, and other acts of kindness, the Body of Christ has helped me find my way home each day.

The following is an example of the many, many prayers, and scripture passages sent to Shana and me over the past months. It is my favorite and was written by Mindy three years to the day before I brought the remains of her “earth suit” (her dad’s favorite description) home from Alaska. One who originally received it sent it to me. Min wrote it for the family of a talented young musician at our church, who died suddenly in his early 20’s. Little did she know how much solace it would one day bring to her own family. I hope it blesses you as it has me. Thank you all for speaking into our lives in so many ways…allowing us to stand and walk.

In His Amazing Grace, “Doc” Parrish

Father,
Your mercy and grace meet us most freely when we are in the midst of our deepest pain. May this faithful family begin to KNOW the height and the depth and the breadth of your love in this hour of grief. May your Spirit not cease in bringing them to our minds as the days go by...we have all taken them into our hearts. We will not soon forget the gift you gave us all in this precious life. Most gracious God, we believe that You are good all the time...all the time You are good. Protect our minds from doubt and confusion. Remind us daily that You are worthy of our honor and praise and trust because of who You are. Please grant this precious family rest and peace and comfort...physically...so they will be able to stand and walk.
In the name of your Son, Jesus, Amen.

P.S. – My step-Dad and I have established a memorial scholarship fund in the name of my Mom (Val Parrish) and Min at the New Tribes Missions Training Center in Missouri.
Please pray with us that the Lord will, in the years to come, use this scholarship to help prepare many for vital 21st Century missions service.
