Loren (Larry) Greenawalt Home with the Lord

Loren (Larry) Greenawalt (1976) passed away in his home on December 19th. A filter in his leg failed and a blot clot traveled to his heart and he died suddenly and unexpected. He was living in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he wrote, performed and recorded children's music and also was a featured organist at a specialty renovated movie theater. He was known at FBC for being a popular accomianist for many soloists and pianist for Sound of Truth and Promise and for chapel. He and his incredible musical talent will be greatly missed. Funeral will be Sunday, December 28th in Ann Arbor. Prayers for his son and daughter in law Jeremy and Rebekah Greenawalt in Dallas Texas and his former wife, with whom he remained a close friend, Kathleen (Greenawalt) Gabrielle are greatly appreciated.

Phyllis Carbonell, Mels' dear wife, went home to be with the Lord

Phyllis Carbonell, Mels' dear wife, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 10. She passed away in her sleep while Mels was holding her hand. His youngest son, Rob and his family were also in the room, plus Jim and Tris Sheffield had just driven up from Atlanta to pray with her a minute before she sighed her last breath. How comforting it was for her to be surrounded by friends and loved ones at her darkest, but brightest moment. She died of a weakened immune system due to a stroke which was caused by an accident while exercising. Phyllis was only 60 years old and a CPA, but spent the last ten years helping and traveling with Mels in ministry. "She was the sweetest lady I ever knew," says Mels. Phyllis was also a Grace College graduate and soul-winner. She was loved by all and admired by everyone who knew her. There will be a viewing this Saturday from 12 noon - 2 p.m. and Memorial at 2 p.m. at the Crossover Community Church at George Curtis Road and Hwy. 5 in Blue Ridge, GA 30513. Everyone who can is encouraged to give a love gift in her honor to the church's Missions Fund in leu of flowers.
